GTU60 Deployment and Fleet Management with GICUS
How Gosafe’s GTU60 and GICUS device management platform enable scalable, remote-first fleet telematics at a fraction of the traditional cost.
A Growing Industry Demands Smarter Operations
Fleet telematics is one of the fastest growing segments in the global IoT market. As demand for real-time visibility into vehicle operations accelerates, service providers face growing pressure to deploy and maintain hundreds — or thousands — of GPS tracking devices efficiently, reliably, and cost-effectively.
For integrators and fleet technology providers, this growth brings new business opportunities, but also new operational burdens. Managing configuration, firmware updates, diagnostics, and SIM connectivity for a dispersed device estate can quickly become a full-time engineering challenge.
The Hidden Cost of Scale
Implementing a GPS telematics project requires careful coordination across hardware procurement, SIM provisioning, device configuration, field installation, and ongoing maintenance. A typical integrator manages several thousand tracking units spread across multiple end customers — each with different firmware requirements, configuration profiles, and service agreements.
The economics of manual device management don’t scale. At an average of 5–10 minutes per device for individual configuration, provisioning a fleet of 3,000 units represents over 500 engineering hours — before a single vehicle even moves. When firmware needs updating across a mixed fleet, or a customer changes their tracking parameters, engineers must either travel to each vehicle or rely on error-prone manual processes.
Beyond initial deployment, the ongoing maintenance burden grows with every new customer onboarded. Configuration drift, outdated firmware, and SIM connectivity issues can erode service quality and increase support costs. Without a centralized management platform, these problems often only surface after a customer complaint.
GTU60 + GICUS: One Device, Total Control
Gosafe addresses this challenge with the GTU60 — an economical, versatile 4G LTE fleet tracker designed for mass deployment — paired with GICUS, Gosafe’s cloud-based device management and provisioning platform. Together, they create a scalable, remote-first telematics workflow that drastically reduces the cost and complexity of operating a device estate at scale.
The GTU60 is built on a single-device, multiple-possibilities philosophy. Its broad I/O capability — including BLE 5.0, a serial port, 1-Wire interface, digital inputs/outputs, and an analog input — means a single SKU can serve a wide range of fleet use cases from basic tracking to driver ID, temperature monitoring, and starter-block control. This hardware flexibility, combined with GICUS’s remote management capabilities, means service providers can standardize on one device family and still meet the specific requirements of each customer.
Automated Device Import
When a service provider orders GTU60 units from Gosafe, the shipment is reflected in their GICUS account automatically. Each device’s IMEI is registered and its virtual counterpart created in the platform — ready to be assigned to a customer project, even before the hardware ships.
Configuration Profiles & Group Assignment
Inside GICUS, the provider builds configuration profiles tailored to each fleet use case — basic tracking, driver behaviour monitoring, rental vehicle management, temperature-sensitive cargo, and more. Devices are organized into groups; when a GTU60 is added to a group, it inherits that group’s firmware version and configuration profile automatically.
Zero-Touch Field Activation
Installation technicians connect the GTU60 to the vehicle’s power supply. The device locates the mobile network using its built-in APN database and connects to GICUS. Any pending configuration or firmware update tasks are downloaded and applied automatically — no laptop, no USB cable, no specialist on-site.
Ongoing Remote Management
GICUS monitors device connectivity, flags units that have not reported in the last 24 hours, and allows engineers to push configuration changes or firmware updates to any device or group remotely. Multi-customer environments are managed through a hierarchical company structure — each customer’s fleet is isolated in its own sub-account with its own file storage and configuration library.
SIM & Connectivity Orchestration
For providers using embedded SIMs, GICUS integrates with connectivity management to keep SIM status, data consumption, and network steering aligned with device status — all from a single dashboard. This is especially powerful for cross-border fleet operations where operator selection and roaming costs need continuous optimisation.
API Integration with Business Systems
GICUS exposes a comprehensive API, enabling service providers to integrate device lifecycle management directly into their fleet management platforms, CRM, helpdesk, and ERP systems. Onboarding a new customer can trigger automatic device assignment and configuration tasks — with no manual intervention required.
Inside the GICUS Dashboard
GICUS provides a real-time command centre for your entire device estate. The dashboard gives instant visibility into firmware update status, configuration task progress, and device reporting health — all from a single browser-based interface with no software installation required.
System Architecture
Why GTU60 and GICUS Work Together
Remote Device Lifecycle Management
GICUS eliminates the need for physical access to deploy configuration or firmware updates. All changes are pushed over-the-air, reducing field visits and associated costs.
Automatic Device Import & Provisioning
GTU60 units ordered from Gosafe are automatically registered in GICUS. Virtual device records with IMEIs are pre-created, ready for assignment before hardware arrives on-site.
One Hardware SKU, Many Use Cases
The GTU60’s multi-I/O design — BLE 5.0, serial port, 1-Wire, analog input, digital outputs — means a single device type can handle basic tracking, driver authentication, temperature logging, and immobilisation.
Multi-Customer Hierarchy
GICUS’s nested company structure lets providers manage each end customer as an isolated sub-account — with their own device pool, configuration files, firmware builds, and user permissions.
Real-Time Device Health Dashboard
GICUS proactively surfaces devices that have gone offline or failed to apply updates. Colour-coded task statuses let operations teams identify and resolve issues without dispatching field engineers.
Full API Integration
GICUS provides a complete API for integration with fleet management platforms, ERP, CRM, and support systems. Automating device provisioning within existing workflows minimises human error and accelerates customer onboarding.
Embedded SIM Compatibility
GTU60 supports embedded SIM options, and GICUS integrates with connectivity management for unified SIM status, data usage monitoring, and network steering — critical for international fleet operations.
Security & Compliance Built In
GICUS ensures devices are always running approved, up-to-date firmware — reducing exposure to security vulnerabilities. Audit trails and role-based access controls support compliance requirements across enterprise deployments.
Technology is the Beginning
The GTU60 and GICUS platform represent more than hardware and software — they represent a philosophy of operational efficiency that lets telematics providers scale without proportionally scaling their engineering headcount. By combining a flexible, cost-effective tracker with an intelligent cloud management platform, Gosafe enables service providers to take on more customers, manage more devices, and deliver better service levels simultaneously.
